THIS JUST IN:
Massive restaurants are closing left and right. The latest to wrap up service:: Cibo Wine Bar’s Yonge & Eglinton outpost (2472 Yonge St.) after a decade. However, it’s not goodbye forever - another in the area is on the agenda. In the meantime, locations in Yorkville and on King West remain open.
Speaking of Yonge-Eg, Playa Cabana Bar Esquina down the street (8 Eglinton Ave. E.) has shuttered again. Doors quietly closed earlier this month.
Speaking of Mexican destinations, Gochu Libre Kantina (815 Bloor Street W.) - that’s catina with a “k” - softly opened yesterday. The casual Mexican-Korean cocktail bar is courtesy of the folks behind Project Gigglewater and former iteration, Overpressure Club.
Boxcar Social’s former east side haunt is being turned into an all-day affair, Amber Kitchen and Coffee (4 Boulton Ave.) is slated to open next month.
Hot tip: The location that was once Michelin-starred Frilu in Thornhill is now all about Chinese liquor. To get your hands on the carefully curated selection, CLF (7713 Yonge St) Is by appointment only for now, with the restaurant side of things to launch soon.
