THE TIP OFF - EDITION 6

THIS JUST IN:

Union Hotel (60 York St.)  is opening any day now. (Hint: What are you up to next week?) Taking over from what was The Strathcona Hotel, the new boutique rendezvous by Silver Hotel Group located steps away from the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and Bardi’s Steak House, will be home to both a restaurant, Sahni, and coffee shop, bar, and lounge, Humble Donkey. Stay tuned for details.

The windows have been papered over at Ha Gow Dim Sum House, a fixture at the corner of Donlands and Danforth (988 Danforth Ave.) for as long as I can remember.

Speaking of dim sum, Rol San Restaurant has been serving  all day dim sum since 1994 - the majority of those nearly three decades at 323 Spadina Ave. In 2023 they upped sticks across the street (388 Spadina Ave.) and now have expanded next door (390 Spadina Ave.).

BREAKING NEWS: Resos for Dasha (620 King St. W.) are now a thing of the past. The Pan-Asian restaurant at King and Portland has closed the restaurant side of things and is no longer offering regular dining services. Last service was January 4. It has since transitioned to a private event  space. Diners can visit sister venues nearby: Baro on King and Petty Cash on Adelaide,

There’s an exciting new restaurant opening soon. To access the exclusive details, listen to/watch the first episode of TORONTO RESTAURANTS | THE PODCAST with chefs Ashley McKay and Aldo Camarena.
