The old Paris Paris on Dundas is about to become Taberna Lx (1161 Dundas St. W..) One of the folks on board? Restaurateur and chef Jonathan Poon of spots around the corner on Ossington Paris Paris, Club Paris, Superpoint, and Favorites. Lx the common abbreviation for Lisbon, hence the tagline, “Lisbon inspired, TO experienced.” There are so many cuisines and concepts I think Toronto could use a lot more of Portuguese is definitely one of them..
Literary bar Famous Last Words (392 Pacific Ave.) in the Junction is closing January 4. The unique cocktail bar launched 8 years ago.
Hey Snowbirds, heading to Miami this winter? Hot tip: MIMI Chinese (265 Davenport Rd.) is bringing its regional Chinese Cuisine to Miami Beach (1575 Alton Rd., Unit 2) this month. p.s. They’re not the first or only to bring their venture south of the border as of late. BarChef (472 Queen St. W.) is opening its first U.S. outpost in NYC.
Hawa Beirut Restaurant & Lounge just landed in the east end near King and Sherbourne (466 Adelaide St. E.), a surprising location for a spot outfitted with DJs, dancing, live entertainment including belly dancing, and definite nightlife vibes. For an “unforgettable experience with shish, cocktails, and the true spirit of Beirut vibes,” head east of Yonge to where Motorino Citta stood until recently.
I told you guys big things were happening on Ossington. BREAKING NEWS: Chef Paul Boehmer’s eponymous restaurant Boehmer (93 Ossington Ave.) has come to an end. While there’s been no official announcement, the website is down and OpenTable has marked it ‘permanently closed’ for starters. The expansive destination transformed from a garage debuted on the strip back in 2010, before Ossington was the bustling strip it is today.
