Toronto Bartenders Head to Speed Rack National Finals
Toronto is a world-class city when it comes to bars and mixologists. So it’s no surprise that a number of finalists are heading to Montreal next week to compete for top spot in the fourth annual Speed Rack Canada National Finals.
The all-female charity speed-bartending competition co-founded by Lynnette Marrero and Ivy Mix in 2011, may have started in the States, but has become increasingly popular north of the border.
The lively match allows bartenders and bar managers a chance to show off their mad skills, and connect and strengthen their community in an industry that continues to be dominated by men.
These talented mixologists will be going against finalists from across Canada.

Whether you’re industry or simple a cocktail enthusiast, it’s sure to be a fabulous night. An important one too: One hundred per cent of ticket sales donated to Speed Rack Canada’s official charity partners: The Breast Cancer Support Fund and Breast Cancer Action Quebec.
“We’re very passionate about the number of different charities that we support in cities across the world as we continue to grow, and are excited to be so close to our longtime goal of $1 million raised for charity,” says Marrero. “The competition is always exciting, and we love seeing the hard work and creativity behind the bar from the Speed Rack competitors every year, but at the end of the day, our mission is to spread awareness and support research to ultimately end this disease that so many of us have been touched by in one way or another.”
To date, Speed Rack has raised over $850,000 worldwide for breast cancer prevention, treatment and awareness.
An opportunity to celebrate and support these hard-working, talented mixologists and community, while raising money for breast cancer research?
It’s a no-brainer.
