There’s so much to celebrate this weekend - summer has finally arrived, Cinco de Mayo is just days away, and I’ve got 12 brand new spots for entice you.

Here’s the very latest:

OPEN

Basil Box continues their expansion across the city with the latest venue landing at Yonge and Finch (5607 Yonge St.), with more locations to follow.

Love Nashville hot chicken? Mark your calendar for Chica's Chicken (2853 Dundas St. W.) opening tomorrow at Dundas and Keele.  

Chuck's Roadhouse Bar and Grill (6465 Millcreek Dr.) in Mississauga debuts Wednesday. On the menu ($3-$29.99): burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, ribs, combos, all-you-can-eat salads, desserts, and menu for the kiddies.

Satiate your all-day brunch cravings at Kensington Market's Egg Bae (189 Augusta Ave.).

Windsor Arms Hotel (18 St Thomas St.) launched a new restaurant and piano bar Tuesday called The Gatsby.

From healing lattes and tonics to protein power bowls and assorted toasts, Good Things Café +Juice Bar (235 Broadview Ave.) does your body, mind, and day good. Doors opened Monday. Stay tuned for a closer look.

Lot 30 Brewers (formerly Lansdowne Brewery) re-opens tomorrow at 303 Lansdowne Ave.

Stop in for coffee, pizza, and sandwiches at Harbord Village’s Think It Café (196 Borden St.).

Slanted Door, Coffee & Art (442 Bloor St. W.) in The Annex celebrates their gallery grand opening today.

Monday is the start of something new in Yorkville. Sofia Restaurant And Bar (99 Yorkville Ave.) by INK Entertainment “marries authentic Italian cuisine and modern art courtesy of Canada's first Taglialatella Gallery.” What is that exactly? I’ll have a closer look for you soon.

Latin-Asian mashup Tacos Baos (914 Bloor St. W.) has landed at Bloor and Landsdowne. Note: They’re closed today for renovations.

Mr. Tonkatsu (4895 Yonge St.) has expanded with a new location now open in North York. Hours currently are: 11am-2:30pm; 4:30pm-9:45pm.

CLOSED

The Cho Brothers have shuttered Cho Cho Cho (863 St. Clair Ave. W.) to “to spend more time with their aging parents, family and individual endeavours.”

The Scullery (200 Carlton St.) in Cabbgetown has closed up shop.

Downtown Chinese restaurant Hong Shing was ordered to pay a hefty fine for asking black customers for payment in advance.
