Open/Closed: week of May 17-23, 2018

There’s a lot to be happy about this week: the long weekend, p-a-t-i-o-s, the Royal Wedding, and a dynamic list of nine new dining and drinking destinations to get to asap.

Here’s the very latest:

OPEN

There’s a luxe, members-only monthly supper club previewing tonight with headliners singer Robin Thicke, comedian Bob Saget, and chef Bobby Flay, to name just a few. Après Noir (8440 York Regional Road 27) officially opens June 7th with Drake, chef Giada De Laurentiis, and other celebs.

If teeny wraps aren’t your thing, get yourself a Bang Bang Burrito (366 Bloor St. W.) in the Annex ‘hood.

Nestled next to Drake One Fifty, is sweet spot Drake Mini Bar (150 York St.), offering an “adventurous small plate menu with hand-crafted cocktails and an eclectic wine and beer selection” seven days a week.

This Saturday, head to Leslieville for the grand opening of Hype Food Co. (1060 Gerrard St. E.). On the menu: “food” bowls, baked goods, local coffee and soft-serve Dole Whip - all free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, wheat, fish, soy and sesame.

Get your caffeine and chocolate fix all at once at Lion Coffee (881 St. Clair Ave. W.).

Rotis are always a good idea. Fill your face at Queen and Spadina’s newest resto, My Roti Place (406 Queen St. W.). I’ll have a closer look for you soon.

Mark your iCal. Rosalinda (133 Richmond St. W.) launches Wednesday. Brought to you by restaurateurs Jamie Cook (Pizzeria Libretto), Max Rimaldi (Pizzeria Libretto, Enoteca Sociale, Bar Isabel, Tennessee Tavern) and Grant van Gameren (Bar Isabel, Bar Raval, El Rey, Harry’s, PrettyUgly, Tennessee Tavern, Victor Dries Catering), this Mexican vegan eatery is bound to be one of the hottest spots in city. Stay tuned.

Enjoy drinks daily from 4-8pm for just $3.50 at Sheila’s Basement (365 King St. W.) You’re welcome.

It’s summer. For real, this time. So indulge in all the hot weather feels with ice cream, milkshakes and pastries at You Scream Ice Cream and Treats (868 Bathurst St.).
