My Food Is My Flag: A Conversation with Michael W. Twitty

Author Michael W. Twitty penned one of the most important culinary books of our time. Published last year, The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South took home two 2018 James Beard Foundation Book Awards in April for Book of the Year and Writing.

The renowned African American-Jewish culinary historian has produced a riveting and original memoir that delves into the history of Southern food and culture. Along the way he investigates his own heritage and ancestry, all through the lens of food.

This mesmerizing personal exploration of race, cooking and Southern cuisine is a must-read. And now you can hear all about it in person.

Twitty will be in Toronto on Wednesday, November 14 to speak about his book, food and social justice with Globe and Mail columnist Denise Balkissoon, as part of Community Food Centres Canada’s outstanding Speaker Series.

You don’t want to miss it.
