This week’s roundup includes 11 new spots featuring comfort foods of every kind: ramen, rotis, quzi (stuffed whole lamb roast), samoon (yeast bread popular in Iraq), Montreal smoked meat, pasta, pad thai and much more. Swoon.

Here’s the very latest:

OPEN

Grab rotis, biryanis, and other enticing Indian fare post- and pre-show at Bombay Roti, the teeny spot out front at Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor St. W.).

Cactus Club Café made its debut yesterday at its stunning new home at Sherway Gardens (25 The West Mall), complete with artwork by Warhol, Basquiat, MBW (Mr. Brainwash), and Murakami. Stay tuned for a closer look. 

Is there anything better than a Dunn's Famous juicy Montreal smoked meat sandwich? See for yourself at Dunn's Express in East Danforth (1779 Danforth Ave.).

Fort York dwellers can grab healthy fare by way of bowls, salads, toasts, snacks, and smoothies at Hopscotch Cityplace (113 Fort York Blvd.).

Mimico is home to the eighth location of Jimmy's Coffee (380 Royal York Rd.).

 Doors opened Saturday for Middle Eastern restaurant Joummar in Mississauga (2575 Dundas St. W.).

Ottawa salad chain Mad Radish by DavidsTea co-founder David Segal debuted a cashless Toronto location yesterday at Yonge and Eglinton (2293 Yonge St.).

Carbo-loading is waay easy at Rose’s Pasta Express in Scarborough (271 Old Kingston Rd.).

Liberty Village’s newest resident Ultramen Japanese Noodle Bar (134 Atlantic Ave.) is open for dinner service this week. Lunch is being added next week.

Yang Teashop (183 Dundas St. W.) grand opening is tomorrow. The first 50 guests can enjoy a free drink at 1pm and 6pm, with other specials and giveaways taking place throughout the day.

Starting at 1pm today, get in on the grand opening celebrations at Yifang Fruit Tea (315 Spadina Ave., Unit B). YiFang Fruit Tea will be $2 each, limited to 1000 cups and 4 cups per person.

CLOSED

Caribbean eatery Bacchus Roti Shop (1376 Queen St. W.) has been serving up rotis for over 30 years in Parkdale. Tomorrow marks their last day.

Leslieville’s The Ceili Cottage (1301 Queen St. E.) is closing up shop after 10 years. Final service is Saturday.

Cheese Emporium on Danforth (479 Danforth Ave.) has a “For Lease” sign in the window.

Modern European bistro Real Mo-Mo's (51 Colborne St.) is on the move. The St. Lawrence venue may be done, but owner Monique Guffens is on the hunt for another space. Stay tuned. 

Taco Baos (914 Bloor St. W.) just launched in May, but the owners have already shuttered and sold the business as “our family and other business priorities are of higher importance.” 

EVENTS

Day of the Dead celebrations return for the 8th year to Evergreen Brick Works on Sunday.

The winners of Air Canada enRoute “Canada’s Best New Restaurants” are being announced this evening. Stay tuned.

Get tickets now for Japanese food festival Washoku Matsuri 2018 taking place Monday November 5.
