Open/Closed for the week of June 6-12

his week’s restaurant openings offer a little bit of everything. And there are so many great events, you may just have to get up early this weekend. 

Here’s the very latest:

Open:

Aish Tanoor Restaurant
994 Eglinton Ave. W.

The brand new Israeli-Middle Eastern-Kosher restaurant offers a host of dishes, including Shakshuka Stylish ($11.99), Sambuksasi (plain $8.99, treats $10.99), and Oven-Baked Rainbow Trout Fillet ($17.99).

The Belsize Public House
535 Mt Pleasant Rd.

Opening tomorrow, the new gastropub features lunch, dinner, drinks, and brunch, all complete with patio.

Frosty Roll
280 Augusta Ave.  

You’ve got one more option for ice cream in Kensington Market. And this time, it comes rolled.

There are five main flavours: The Nutty Canadian (maple syrup & walnut), Banana-tella, Gogo Mango, White Berry (white chocolate and strawberry) and Frosty Plant (Oreo & cocoa powder) - $5.75 each.

Each week a special flavour will be offered.

Hailed Coffee
801 Gerrard St. E.

Hailed Coffee opened yesterday, serving coffee made with locally roasted high-grade coffee beans and cardamom, and infusing their drinks with an in-house specialty, the Hailed shot.

Le Pavillon
440 Unwin Ave.

Frederic Morin (Joe Beef, Liverpool House, Vin Papillon) and John Bil (Honest Weight) are creating a restaurant experience in the most unique fashion, and it’s available for 15 days only, starting tomorrow.

From Friday June 10 to Sunday June 26, the original Control Room on the upper level of the Hearn Generating Station will become a dining destination as part of this year’s Luminato festival.

Dinner at this limited-edition French restaurant is from $100, with tax, tip and alcohol extra.

Closed:

Babur Express on Queen West is no more.

Eat Healthy Be Fresh has closed their doors on Dundas, but Chef Dan is continuing with catering services.
 
News:

Caplansky’s College St. location was closed by this baliff this week. Zane Caplansky says his lease was terminated with notice, so yesterday he parked his food truck in front of the restaurant and served folks that way.

The 'Friends' pop up café Central Perk, that was supposed to launch June 24, is not happening, according to CTV News.

Ontario Craft Beer Week starts tomorrow!  

And on Saturday Session Toronto Craft Beer Festival 2016 takes over Yonge-Dundas Square.

Pass The Table’s  Conquistador Dinner is happening this Saturday, with chefs and local producers Ricky Casipe, Rossy Earle and Rudy Boquila,Toronto Distillery Co., and Traynor Family Vineyard.

Foodies on Foot has three fab food tours happening this weekend:

1. Wellness Food Tour on Saturday at 11am
2. 501 Streetcar Food Tour on Sunday at 11am
3. Street Art & Street Food Tour on Sunday at 12 noon.

Our national dessert gets the spotlight this Saturday at Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival.

Saturday's Dundas West Fest comes with its own foodie zone including Fidel Gatros, Landsdowne Brewery, and Malaysian Barbecue.

Celebrity chefs, fine food + wine, massive prizes to be won, all for a great cause - no wonder Toronto Taste is the event of the season. 

Fish'D by EDO, "home of Canada's Original Sushi Burritos and Poke" will be available starting Monday June 13 until August 5 at The Podium at Adelaide Place (150 York St.)

Front Street Foods takes place this Monday June 13 to Friday August 5. Moving to Adelaide Place this year, vendors include Toronto restaurants and food entreprenuers such as Brock Sandwich, Chimney Stax, Kaboom Chicken, Railroad Coffee Co, and Tacos 101.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, The Stop's Night Market is an all-you-can-eat-and-drink event and takes place at 158 Sterling Road. Tickets are $100.
