Open/Closed for the week of May 9-15

This is a fabulous week to go out and dine. There are so many new options – 11 in fact, along with some very enticing events. Your weekend is now officially made.

Here’s the very latest:

Open:

Ardo 
243 King St. E.

Opened on Monday at King and Sherbourne, the beautiful new restaurant features a host of Italian dishes including pizzas, pastas, fresh wild-caught fish, and much more.

Bolan Thai Cuisine   
709 Mount Pleasant Rd.

Opened just Sunday, this authentic Thai spot features signature dishes including Ka-Prao Gai Kai Dow ($13.95), Khao Soi Gai ($13.95) and E-San Som Tum ($15.95).

Bombay Street Food 
828 Bay St.

Opened Tuesday, Bombay Street Food brings the flavours of traditional Mumbai street food to the downtown core. Dishes are homemade using 100 percent halal ingredients.

The Captain’s Boil
10A-865 York Mills Rd. 

The York Mills location of the boil-in-bag seafood chain opened Saturday.

Then they opened their fourth location over in Leaside on Tuesday.

Campo De Fiori Ristorante
3317 Bloor St W.

The new authentic Roman restaurant’s menu boasts Bucatini ($17) with guanciale, onion and tomato sauce; Veal “Mops” ($19) with arugula; and Sole Filets ($19) with butter and flour sauce.

Food just like Nonna makes it.

The Edmund Burke 
107 Danforth Ave.

Opened Sunday, the new bar with awesome menu was awaiting their liquor licence, but luckily it just came in.

Choose from pub fare such as a Classic Reuben ($14), and Chicken Schnitzel ($15) or go paleo with a Kale Caesar ($12) or Bare Bones Broth ($6).

Jinya Ramen Bar  
399 Church St.

Opening Monday, Jinya Ramen of California fame, brings its Tonkotsu Ramen made with FUJI water and bold flavors to Toronto (Food critic Jonathan Gold is a fan). Customizable options are available.

Petit Potato
10 Ravel Road, Unit 1-2

The Taiwanese restaurant/cafe's menu is wide ranging – from Watercress & Dried Duck Kidney Soup ($10.75) to Popcorn Chicken Ramen ($9.95) and Stewed Papaya with Chinese Almond & White Fungus ($5.99).

Yummy T & J
587 Parliament St.

Thai and Malayasian fare has arrived in Cabbagetown. The long menu boasts everything from spicy curries ($9.99-$13.99) to pad thais ($8.99-$12.99).

Sweet Jesus
780 Queen St. E.

La Carnita has brought Sweet Jesus eastside with an exclusive sweet treat – The Cinnamon Cone Crunch (vanilla soft serve, cream cheese ising, cinnamon toast crunch crumble). Hours are Mon & Tues 5-10pm, Wed 4-11pm, Thurs-Sat 12-11pm, and Sun 12-10pm.

Closing:

News broke this week that beloved Bar Volo is vacating its long held spot by September to make way for condos.

Changes:

Swan by Rose and Sons on Queen is now Rose & Sons

Events:

This Friday and Saturday head east for food and wine tastings, art and much more at Silver Spoons

Starting tomorrow, shop housewares and eat meatballs at Ikea’s downtown pop up

Celebrate great food and great beer at Brewers Plate this Wednesday. 

Also happening Wednesday, head to The Peasant Table for a special beer and wine dinner.

And it’s not too late to enjoy Veggielicious. Over 40 spots around town will be offering vegan and vegetarian prix-fixe menus ($15-$40) until May 22.
