Open/Closed for the week December 12-18

nd just when you thought restuarant openings might slow down.

Even in the midst of the holiday frenzy, 10 new spots have debuted.

Here's the very latest.

Open:
 
Archtop Café & Music 
2312 Bloor St. W.

Bloor West Village just got itself a new café boasting musical events on Friday.

This is the second location for Archtop; Port Credit is home to the first.

The Captain's Boil
226 Queen St. W.

The latest TCB featuring boil-in-bag seafood opened Tuesday at Queen and McCaul.

Hopper Coffee 
324 College St.

Great name, serves coffee. 'Nuff said.

The Green Wood 
1402 Queen St. E.

Opened just yesterday, The Green Wood with head chef Elisa Corrigan (formerly of SPiN TorontoStorys Catering) offers dinner service from 5-10pm with brunch on Sundays. Come the new year, they’ll be open every day for brunch.

Lazeez Shawarma  
652 Spadina Ave.

Drizzy visited one outside the downtown core back in February. This week, one opened on Spadina at Harbord.

Odd Espresso Bar
1111 College St.

The new coffee spot at the corner of College and Dufferin celebrates their grand opening on Saturday.

Oretta  
633 King St. W.

A grand Italian restaurant with 175 seats opened in the Fashion District on Monday. 

I’ll have a closer look for you soon.

Otto’s Bierhalle  
1087 Queen St. W.

A German beer hall, brought to you by the folks of Otto's Berlin Doner, is now open.

The menu includes ideal cold weather eats of schnitzel, sausage and spatzle.

Rush Lane & Co.
563 Queen St. W.

While Rush Lane & Co. isn’t new, the pop-up inside by Chef Elias Salazar’s Limon Peruvian Cuisine is.

Featuring Pan con Chicharron ($12), Ceviche "Carretillero" – Street Style ($18), and Antichuchos Mar y Tierra ($18) – grilled organic beef heart skewer, Moroccan octopus skewer, fried Yukon potatoes, "anticuchero" style corn, and spicy huacatay sauce, the menu is available Tuesdays to Saturday 7pm to 12am.

Square Fish
461 Queen St. W.

Round sushi is so 2015. Dig into sushi squares (signature $11, salmon/shrimp/California $12, tuna $13).

And if circular is still your thing, go ahead and get rolls, but you’ll probably want to get in on the latest trend, Doshi - sushi donuts, available for $7-$9.

Closed:

Short-lived Bar Mar has shuttered.

Also closed, Coco Lezzone on Avenue Road.

ND Sushi & Grill’s last night of service is Saturday. 

Signs is no more.

News:

Bus Terminal  has reopened on The Danforth at Coxwell.

Events:

Toronto’s largest gingerbread house is back at The Ritz-Carlton. At 9 feet tall amd almost 11 feet wide, the festive domicile features sugar windows, indoor faux fireplace, holiday movies and a complimentary candy station. Trimmed in over 250 pounds of royal icing done in-house by the hotel’s pastry team, the project took almost 500 hours to construct, 200 pounds of flour, 75 pounds of sugar, 5 pounds of spice, 60 pounds of shortening, 35 pounds of corn syrup and 12 pounds of molasses.
