Thanksgiving 2016 – Where to eat this holiday weekend

any folks will be slaving over the stove this holiday weekend. Not in the mood to cook? Want to savour this precious time off? Head to a restaurant or pick up ready-made food this Thanksgiving.

Here’s a sampling of turkey and all the trimmings around town this weekend.

The Blake House

From Friday October 7 to Monday October 10, enjoy Thanksgiving Turkey Roast with the trimmings and Apple Cinnamon Crumble for $23/pp.

Casa Manila

On Sunday and Monday order Thanksgiving dinner with special Roast Chicken Inasal, half or whole.

Globe Bistro
124 Danforth Ave.

Thanksgiving 3-course Prix Fixe Dinner ($39) is available on Sunday and includes your choice of main: Roasted Free Run Ontario Turkey (with pomme purée, red fife stuffing, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry relish, and sage jus) or Ricotta Gnocchi (roasted mushrooms, cauliflower purée, crispy kale, walnuts, Monforte Toscano, sage).

The Local Gest

Sunday and Monday, dig into a local, fresh Thanksgiving feast for just $19.95/pp. The menu includes Roasted Ontario Grain-Fed Turkey, Potatoes (your choice of roasted, mashed or garlic), Seasonal Roasted Mixed Vegetables, Housemade Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce & Turkey Gravy.

For an additional cost, add on dessert - Housemade Pumpkin Pie topped with fresh whipped cream.

The Old Mill

The Old Mill is known for their holiday buffet spreads. On Sunday and Monday, head out for Brunch ($39.95/pp, kids $19.95 ea.) or Dinner ($42.95/pp, kids $19.95 ea.).

The Peartree Restaurant 
507 Parliament St.

Cabbagetown’s long-standing restaurant is celebrating the holiday with a 3-Course Thanksgiving Dinner Menu ($24.99/pp) Saturday evening and Sunday and Monday starting at noon. Turkey and all the trimmings includes pumpkin pie for dessert.

Smith Bros. Steakhouse

The fourth annual Smith Bros. Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration is back with 3-Course Roast Turkey Dinner ($32/pp), available Sunday andMonday night.

Sneaky Dee’s

How cool is this - Thanksgiving at Sneaky Dee’s!

Sunday after 4pm and Monday all day, spend just $18.95 for a whole Turkey Dinner (Roasted Turkey with mashed potatoes, veggies, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and dinner roll). For dessert, choose Pumpkin Pie ($4.25) or Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcake ($3).

If you’re looking to take it up a notch this holiday weekend, the city is full of finer dining options of $60 and over.

Café Boulud

Your 3-Course Prixe-Fixe Dinner ($85) by Chef de Cuisine Sylvaine Assié is available Sunday from 5pm and on Monday from noon.  

A celebration of Ontario’s fall bounty with Roasted Heritage Turkey, Suckling Pig, and Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert, this is a holiday meal you won’t soon forget.

Casa Loma

Thanksgiving Harvest Brunch on Sunday, October 9, is $60 per person, and$45 for children (4-13 years old). Reservations are required.

Colette Grand Café

Epic at Fairmont Royal York

The hotel’s annual 4-course Prix Fixe Menu is $89/pp.

Michael’s on Simcoe

Michael’s on Simcoe is one of the few restaurants offering both a Thanksgiving Dinner Menu ($85/pp) as well as a la carte selections. Sunday only.

Momofuku Daisho 
190 University Ave., 3rd Floor

Parties of two to nine can tuck into Daisho’s 4-Course Thanksgiving Prix Fixe Feast ($70/pp).

Montecito Restaurant
299 Adelaide St. W.

Head down to the Entertainment District for Chicken Dinner Friday to Sunday. $75 gets you a Whole Roast Chicken, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and your choice of Sides.

Also available - Thanksgiving Brunch on Sunday from 11am-3pm ($45/pp).

TOCA

TOCA's seasonal four-course Thanksgiving dinner menu includes a traditional turkey carving station along with Italian-inspired Thanksgiving dishes on Sunday and Monday nights ($86/pp).

Holiday heaven comes in the form of tender pieces of turkey breast in a white sauce with peas and carrots, served with housemade cranberry sauce, enveloped in an enticing flaky all-butter pastry crust.

Available year 'round, Mark Wahlberg’s favourite item on the menu is Thanksgiving Day ($10.75)  - a fantastic turkey dinner on a bun and a portable celebration with fresh ground seasoned turkey, stuffing, Chef Paul's orange cranberry sauce, roasted butternut squash, and mayonnaise.

Now you'll have one more thing in common with Mark Wahlberger.

Thanksgiving menu dishes here are 100% vegan & gluten-free and available for pickup Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Items include soy-free Veggie Pot Pie(4”/$8.50, 8”/$28), Holiday Bowl - contains soy (sm $8, lg $18) and soy-free desserts.

FLOCK
97 Harbord St.

These antibiotic- and hormone-free rotisserie chickens are so dreamy (the best in the city!), you might just make FLOCK your go-to every Thanksgiving.

For those dining alone, you can order a single leg ($5) or breast ($7). Otherwise, choose half ($9.50) and whole juicy birds ($18). Get the latter. You’ll want more right away, and then you’ll want to dig in again tomorrow.

And the sides were made for holiday season – Caramelized Heirloom Carrots ($5.50), Grilled Rapini & Broccoli ($7), Rotisserie Roasted Sweet Potatoes ($5) and Cast Iron Baked Mac & Cheese ($7).

p.s. Their take home special ($32) which includes a full chicken, full salad (the very best!) and Brussels & beets, means that you can enjoy a holiday meal without lifting a finger, except to press "Next" on your current Netflix obsession.

Available for pickup Friday and Saturday from 8am to 8pm, the menu includes Roast Turkey (light and dark meat), Apple Onion & Sage Stuffing, Homestyle Gravy, Paintbox Cranberry Sauce, Creamy Sauce, Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Green Beans & Carrots.

The meal is also available for delivery.

Summerhill Market

Order made-from-scratch turkey dinners that include white and dark sliced meat from free range turkey, apple, onion & sage dressing, orange cranberry sauce, buttermilk mashed potatoes, and maple-roasted butternut squash in exchange for pay-what-you-can donations (minimum $5) to Youth Without Shelter — an emergency residence serving 1000+ homeless youth ages 16-24 across the GTA. 

Thanksgiving dinners can be ordered online, and will be delivered straight to your door over the holiday weekend by grocery delivery service, Instabuggy.

And in case you want to skip the turkey all together and just drink beer, head to Torontoberfest at Evergreen Brick Works on Monday (12 noon - 5pm).

"Beer Monday" will feature Ontario craft brewers Beau’s, Granite, Muddy York, Junction, Side Launch, Left Field, Broadhead and Big Rig, with sausages by WVRST and other food by Delight Bite and Sugar Mamma’s.

Holiday Monday indeed.
