Open/Closed for the week of October 24-31

he last week of October brings with it nine new spots to satiate your cravings (complete with addictions, seductions and an abundance of poké) and some truly epic events.

Here’s the very latest:

Hoki Poké 
946 Yonge St.

The poke trend shows no signs of letting up. One of three additions this week lands just north of Bloor on Yonge. Menu options include build-your-own poke bowl, burrito and salad, five signature bowls, and five signature burritos ($10.95-$13.95).

Maezo Restaurant & Bar
67 Richmond St. W.

This new Indian fusion restaurant opens Monday in the Financial District. 

I’ll have a closer look for you soon.
 
MoTo Coffee and Snack Bar
1321 Dundas St. W.

You can finally afford to eat out thanks to MoTo. Tuck into Puttanesca Bread ($5), Crispy Artichoke ($8), Seafood Salad ($11), and a Charcuterie Board ($12), with house cocktails for $10.

The Poké Box
36 Toronto St.

Poke bowls are so passé already, so it’s about time someone put them in a box.

Pow Wow Café

This new cash only café in Kensington features Ojibwe Tacos.

Sammich
811 Queen St. W.

Not to be confused with Wicked Sammich in The Junction, this new destination proves sandwiches don’t have to be a bore. Choose sliders ($5) featuring Mama’s Meatloaf, Persian-influenced ground beef and pickled onion, and saffron-marinated chicken skewer. Make it two sliders for $9. There’s also a full salad bar ($7.50-$8) with unlimited toppings.

Su&Bu

One of the healthiest options this past summer at the CNE now has a permanent home at John & Adelaide. Doors opened yesterday for the new sushi burrito and poke bowl stop.

Sweet Addictions Candy Co.

Satisfy your sweet tooth for days in this new one-stop shop.

Taste Seduction
399 Keele St.

Chef Vernon Young’s new Jamaican restaurant in the Junction features Jerk Chicken ($12), Curry Conch ($20), Jerk Pesto Shrimp Fettuccine ($15), jerk wraps & tacos ($10-$12), and Jerk Chicken Chow Mein ($13). The grand opening takes place tomorrow.

Closed:

The Harbord Room’s  last night of service is Saturday, after eight years of being one of the best restaurants (that burger!) with stunning cocktails, and one of the most fun, warm and sexy rooms in the city. You will be deeply missed.

Vero Trattoria on Bayview has shuttered. There’s a notice on the window, with locks changed due to arrears in rent.

Congratulations Alo Restaurant, for reaching second place on Air Canada enRoute Magazine’s 2016 Canada's Best New Restaurants. It is the only Toronto restaurant to make the top 10.

On Tuesday November 1, head to one of the best culinary events of the year, Eat to the Beat
