Open/Closed for the week of June 8-14

The second week of June brings with it some very exciting restaurant openings and events. And lots of rain.  Hey, at least you can eat well during the insane downpours. Check out the very latest openings, closings, news and events now!

Open:

A3 Napoli Pizzeria e Friggitoria
589 College St.

Opening tomorrow, this authentic Neapolitan street food experience includes deep fried items (fritti misti) piled into paper cones, pizza fritta (deep fried pizza!), small folded pizza (portafoglio)and wood-fired pizzas, all of which is meant to be eaten by hand. The menu is a collab between Pizzeria Libretto’s Chef Rocco Agostino and Porchetta & Co.’s Chef Nick auf der Mauer. No doubt they will have one of the longest lineups at next weekend’s Taste of Little Italy. I’ll have an inside look to you soon.

Broncos Slider Bar
127 Strachan Ave.

Brought to you by the same owner as BrancaBronchos is now open, offering a range of sliders that are far beyond the usual suspects of teeny burgers on buns. Waffles, bao buns, eggs, fried chicken, and fries are just a few of the enticing ingredients.

The Burger’s Priest
212 Adelaide St. W.

The ninth location for TBP drops tomorrow at 11:30am. Being right in the Entertainment District, they're going to stay open longer to satiate any of your late night burger cravings. And they deliver. Win-win.

Debu's Biryani House
365 King St.W.

Chef Debu Saha is back with his biryani house now on King West. The menu boasts everything from kabobs to curries, onion bhaji to gulab jamun. Stay tuned for more.

Guu Izakaya North York
4775 Yonge St, Unit #114

This Guu boasts a few dishes exclusive to the new location (including deep fried chicken knee cartilage) and a large patio. Remaining, the traditional loud shouting of greetings.

Indian Grill
108 Ossington

Indian Grill opened their doors on Monday in the old Amaya spot, serving up authentic Indian fare. I’ll have a closer look soon.

Starving Artist
810 College St.

The third spot for this waffle mecca lands at College and Ossington, offering the same selections as their two other locations. But in this case, that's a very, very good thing. Because now you can grab your Waffle Benny, Chicken & Bacon Waffle or Waffle S'More right in Little Italy.

New digs:

Zen Japanese
7634 Woodbine Ave.

Moving from Scarborough to Markham isn’t the only change for the epic restaurant. They have a brand new menu to go with their sleek new space, and have closed for lunch service until further notice.

And just in time for summer getaways:

Frankies Surf Club is back. The Port Carling Surf Club (known as Frankies Surf Club to most locals back in the day) originally started in the ‘60s as a local clubhouse with arcade games and live music up in cottage country. Ian McGrenaghan and Colin Tooke – owners of Grand Electric and Electric Mud BBQ – have relaunched it, keeping the name Frankies Surf Club. The new waterfront coffee, cocktail and clothing clubhouse is located at 2 James Bartleman Way in Port Carling.

Closed:

Johnny Rockets
on Dundashas closed, as has Wabora Sushi on Wellington.
