Open/Closed for the week of Jan 26 – Feb 1

This weekend it’s all about the Superbowl (we’ve got the top 5 spots to watch the game)  and Winterlicious (check out the full Guide here) ). If you can cram anything else into this weekend, you’re a hero. But if you check out this week's events, you might just want to make some room - there's some great stuff happening in the next few days.

In the meantime, here’s the latest restaurant news:

Open:

Drupatis
2038 Yonge St.

If you’re in the Yonge and Davisville area, you can finally satiate your craving for curries, rotis and doubles, thanks to Drupatis.

Furlough
924 Queen St. W.

Furlough (by the BarChef folks) opened on Tuesday in the old Ursa spot. Just steps away from Linwood Essentials and County General, the corner of Queen and Shaw is now most definitely a fantastic stop for drinks and a bite to eat.

Hanmoto
2 Lakeview Ave.

The Oddseoul folks are behind this bar at Dundas and Ossington. Those four elements alone– Oddseoul, bar, Dundas West and Ossington – will no doubt ensure its success.

Sumac Kebab Kitchen
250 Dundas St. W.

It’s mostly take-out here, but who doesn’t love a kebab to go?

Closed:

Ronnie B’s Southern Kitchen & Taps in Cabbagetown closed. They opened just last fall.

Expansion:

Me Va Me Express
860 York Mills Rd.

One of the city’s best Middle Eastern restaurants opened a new location at York Mills and Don Mills. These guys do fresh, healthy food so well, you'll likely go every day.

News:

Hiro Sushi is under reno. Hopefully it won’t take as long as Dominion on Queen.

Events:

Tonight and tomorrow learn how to make Tapiscos – Tapas & Petiscos at Pimenton's hands-on cooking class.

We're heading to the Toronto Tea Festival this weekend! Held at the Appel Salon (2nd Floor) of theToronto Reference Librarythis 2-day festival includes everything from tea ceremonies to tea-infused cocktails.

On Saturday, become the envy of all your friends by learning how to make madeleines, financiers, profiteroles and other fine French desserts at Bonnie Gordon's Parisian Afternoon Tea.

And if you're not all about the Super Bowl this weekend, you can still get your fill of beer on Saturday at The Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Festival.

Starting on Sunday, it’s La Poutine Week!

And lastly:

We take a peek inside Buca Yorkville.

In this month’s recipe, Rose Reisman shows us a new way to make Greek salad

Arlene Stein does so much more than just Terroir (Psst! You can now buy tickets for this year's Terroir Symposium!)
