Toronto mayoral candidates get their own restaurant dishes
Toronto is such a food-centric town, even our voting for mayor involves food.
The Lakeview is doing a Burger Poll in conjunction with Metro Newspaper Toronto, running until Oct 20, with each burger representing a candidate. Here are the options:
Morgan Baskin Burger - Two veggie patties, two slices of Canadian cheddar, homemade smoky BBQ sauce, baby spinach, and Doritos. Accompanied by a glass of cherry Kool-Aid.
Olivia Chow Burger - A 6 oz. ground chuck patty with roasted orange pepper, chow-chow relish (green & red tomato, cabbage, onions, carrots), Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle.
Doug Ford Burger - 6 oz. ground chuck patty between two pieces of Cornflake Chicken, with two slices of Canadian cheddar and two pieces of crispy strip bacon. Served with a side of gravy.
John Tory Burger - 6 oz. ground chuck patty with 2 oz. blue cheese and fried red onions, five blue corn blueberry-BBQ mayo, with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. All on a sesame seed bun.
Theburgers have recently been reduced to $11.
Even Ethiopian restaurant Rendez-Vous got in on the action will a recent election-themed menu as a way to create awareness about voting.
As we approach voting day on October 27th, don’t be surprised by more dishes being rolled out in honour of the candidates.
What’s next? Pizzas? Tacos? Ramen?
