Open/Closed for Week of April 14-20

What an exciting week – we’ve had sun, snow and now a great deal of new restaurants to choose from! Check out some of the latest openings:

Fat Pasha
414 Dupont Street
(647) 340-6142

Chef Anthony Rose (Rose and Sons, Big Crow and what seems like forever ago, The Drake Hotel) opens Fat Pasha today. Middle Eastern fare is right on trend, with some Jewish dishes thrown in the mix, such as a latka platter ($18) and schmaltz fried rice ($12).

Expect lineups.

O Resto
7 King Court
(416) 901-5535

The corner of Yonge & King is often where you catch the subway or streetcar or visit a financial office, more than a dining destination. However, should you be in the ‘hood, you’ve still got to eat.

Newbie O Resto is open every day of the week, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a bar area as well. Breakfast options include steak and eggs on a bagel ($6.99) and a double-stacked grill cheese sammy with four cheeses for just $5.49. Naan pizzas ($13.50-$17) burgers, poutines and salads are available for lunch and dinner.

Sparrow
2197 Bloor St. W.
(647) 349-2211

This charming Bloor West Village spot opens this Saturday for brunch. After that, they'll be open for brunch and dinner seven days a week after that.

There is a playfulness to the menu you don't see often - Shrimps ($11) are done like pogos in a thick cornmeal batter, and a lean pork belly ( $20) as big as a steak, is done with espresso and stout and topped with house pickles, made to look like a garden bed.

If this restaurant were opening on Queen West, there would be lineups around the block. Let's hope Bloor Steeet West knows what a gem it has in its midst.

Other notable places just opened :

Blackbird Baking Co. opens Saturday.

The Junction Kitchen & Bar at 3820 Victoria Park Avenue.

Changes:

Momofuku news: Delivery from Noodle Bar + Milk Bar Toronto in now available to downtown core. And Daishō is now open for lunch Monday to Friday.
