Open/Closed for the week November 17 – 23

Restaurants continue to open across the city almost daily. How exciting! And just in time for the holidays.

Here are some invigorating new options for dining this week:

Open:

Baju
12 Clinton St.

I broke the news last week that Baju was rumoured to be opening. Zane Caplansky of Caplansky’s Delicatessen indeed opened a southern BBQ spot right in the Monarch Tavern, featureing ribs, pulled pork, brisket and all the fixins.

Crepe & Co.
1167 Queen St. W.

Both sweet and savoury crepes are available at this European style café near Queen and Dufferin.

Duggan’s Brewery
1346 Queen St. W.

Parkdale gets its own brewery at the corner of Queen and Brock, with beers made by Mike Duggan. There’s food and trivia nights too.

HG Bar & Restaurant
3585 Keele St., Unit 5

If you've ever wanted German and Chinese food together, your wish has been granted!

House of Bengal
2183 Danforth Ave.

This casual restaurant near Woodbine specializes in Bangladesh cuisine.

Purple Penguin Café
889 Queen St. E.

Though their banner, complete with riddle, announced an opening of Nov 17th, due to water and internet troubles, the PPC opening has been postponed to this Saturday instead. What a perfect day for local coffee, bread and homemade apple fritters!

Schnitzel Hub
1415 Yonge St.

Schnitzel Hub’s second location lands smack dab at Yonge & St. Clair, where comfort food like cabbage rolls, perogies and schnitzel are a welcome change from the nearbyburger and pizza offerings.

Soco Kitchen + Bar
75 Lower Simcoe St.

The street level restaurant at the new Delta Hotel was scheduled to open today, but will instead open the doors on Tuesday. We’ll have an inside look coming your way soon!
