A passionate foodie, Kathleen shares her love of Italian and Mexican food and her guiltiest pleasure.

Name: Kathleen Robertson

Occupation: Actor/Writer/Producer

Place of Residence: Hollywood, California

What’s the last thing you ate? Whole grain tortilla chips with jalapeños and chipotle salsa.

If you were left to your own devices to make something at home, what would it likely be? Rigatoni with tomato basil sauce and tons of parmesan.

What will you ask a server to remove from your dish, or make sure it doesn’t have? Goat cheese.

When staying at a hotel, what are you raiding from the mini fridge? Pringles, gummy bears….Sauvignon Blanc.

Guilty pleasure: Sea salt kettle chips.

Drink of choice: Champagne.

Favourite meal of the day and why: Dinner, because it’s when I’m most hungry. And dessert.

Favourite cookbooks to use: The Mozza Cookbook: Recipes from Los Angeles's Favorite Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria by Nancy Silverton, Matt Molina, and Carolynn Carreno; The Harry's Bar Cookbook by Arrigo Cipriani; and Ina Garten’s Barefoot Contessa series.

Favourite cookbooks just to look at: Nobu:The Cookbook by Nobuyuki Matsuhisa and Martha Stewart.

Three items that are always in your fridge: Parmigiano-Reggiano, sesame oil, and almond milk.

Your top three Toronto restaurants: BiagioFour Seasons Truffles, the Rivoli

Favourite places to shop for ingredients in Toronto: Whole Foods.

Go-to dish ordered at a restaurant: Pink Pearl for Chinese vegetable and pan-fried noodles.

Would you rather – Go to farmer’s market/nearest pub/food truck? Farmer’s market.

Describe your kitchen: My husband (Producer Chris Cowles) just built is a massive island right in the center that I love. The kitchen has lots of Carrera marble, mercury hanging pendants, Eames bar stools…lots of reclaimed wood. And it's always in use!

Describe your cooking style: My husband is the real cook. I am good at vegetables and salads. I leave the sauces and meats to him. Growing up in an Irish/Scottish family, there were a lot of potatoes and boiling going on. So I try and break away from the bland side…. garlic oil has become my friend.

Ideal food day: from the time you wake up until bed, what are you having? Breakfast: Green smoothie and oatmeal. Lunch: usually a salad with lentils or soup and a grilled cheese.  Dinner: Lots of Mexican -- Mole enchiladas once a week.  And sushi.  Or mushroom risotto.  And for dessert, some chocolate with peanut butter thrown in.  Heavenly.
